Governance and risk management in Asia

9 - 10 October 2012

This program combines academic insight with extensive practical business experience into corporate governance, leadership and risk management, with an emphasis on Asia. The course examines how leadership and governance can impact risk management strategies. A key focus of the course is the importance of cultural intelligence in developing business leaders who are adept at navigating the complex personal, institutional, political, social and economic environments in Asia. Another focus is on the risk perspectives of the newly globalizing Asian businesses – from China, East Asia and India in particular. A third component of this course is the typical governance structures in Asia in contrast to the Anglo-Saxon corporate governance structures and legislation.

At the end of the course, participants should:

  • Gain insights into how Asian businesses view risk and compliance when doing business in the West
  • Demonstrate greater cultural intelligence when doing business in Asia
  • Acquire skills in building cross-cultural competence
  • Understand how leadership styles influence risk management in Asia
  • Learn about the risks of operating in Asia and develop strategies to manage those risks
  • How corporate and public governance unfolds in Asia and impact on management decisions from local and international companies.
