Strategic financial analysis

This program is designed to help you translate business knowledge into a valuation. Using a fundamental analysis framework and a structured valuation methodology, you will learn how businesses generate value and how the value they generate is captured in financial statements. Strategic Financial Analysis provides a useful framework to compute the fundamental or intrinsic value of equity, businesses, operations or strategies. You will also learn how to value growth and to analyse equity and credit risk.

By the end of the program you will be able to:

  • Identify how fundamental value is ascertained
  • Analyse business strategies to understand the value they add.
  • Analyse the quality of the accounting in financial reports
  • Analyse growth and sustainable earnings
  • Analyse equity and enterprise Price/Earning and Price/Book ratios and understand how they inter-relate
  • Analyse credit and equity risk

Program overview

The program will involve lectures, mini case studies and group discussions that prepares you to take full advantage of financial information and in decision-making for both internal and external analysis.

This program is targeted at managers who rely on financial statements to evaluate and value businesses, equity and strategies. The content is appropriate for those involved in industry and competitor analysis and investment opportunity analysis.

Presenter

Professor Nasser Spear's research interests include capital markets, security valuation, oil and gas accounting and International Financial Reporting.

Fees

$2500 plus GST*

Assessment and awards

All Open Programs may be taken on an assessed or non-assessed basis. Those who wish to undertake this program on an assessed basis will be eligible for 6.25 credit points toward a Specialist Certificate in Executive Leadership.
