The Master of Commerce (Finance) offers high-level academic training in finance. Many of our graduates, as well as currently enrolled part-time students, are employed in senior positions in the business and financial community. The course has also attracted a significant number of enrolments from finance academics at other Victorian tertiary institutions.

The Master of Commerce (Finance) is 8 subjects in duration, and will normally be completed in one year of full-time study or two years part-time. The maximum time permitted for completion is four years.

Who should apply?

This course is designed for those with demonstrated finance skills who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the many advanced aspects of finance. This course also provides an appropriate foundation program for students intending to proceed to the PhD program in finance.

Minimum entry requirements:

To be considered for admission to the Master of Commerce (Finance), applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • A four-year undergraduate degree with a specialisation in finance, or the equivalent, with at least an H2A (75%) average in the specialisation, or
  • Completion of an equivalent preliminary course, normally the Postgraduate Diploma in Finance, at an overall standard of at least second class honours (H2A: 75%)
  • Performance on the GMAT/GRE, unless the applicant has met one of the approved conditions for GMAT/GRE exemption
  • A personal statement.
